What the remedy changes
The remedy does not mean every member automatically receives the same extra amount. It changes how eligible remedy-period service is treated and gives a choice between the relevant legacy and reformed outcomes under the implemented process.
Pay history, promotion, retirement date, contribution adjustments and dependant benefits can affect the comparison.
Build a clean service timeline
List joining date, any breaks, part-time or on-call periods, transfers and promotion dates. Compare that timeline with the Remediable Service Statement. Resolve missing service or pay data before relying on a lifetime-value figure.
Why generic calculators have limits
A calculator can illustrate two benefit paths, but it cannot replace administrator data and current actuarial factors. Treat a model as a question generator, then obtain formal figures before an irreversible retirement choice.
Frequently asked questions
Who is eligible for the McCloud remedy?
Eligibility depends on public-service pension membership and continuity conditions around the relevant dates; the scheme administrator can confirm individual status.
Do I choose now?
The timing and process depend on whether benefits are already in payment or being taken. Follow the administrator's formal communication.
