Firefighter salary & take-home calculator
Start with the national July 2026 rate, then add your service, regular overtime, local allowances and pension choice. The estimate runs on your device.
How to use this firefighter pay calculator
The calculator begins with the national NJC role rate effective 1 July 2026. Choose the development or competent point that appears on your contract, then add only recurring local payments. If your service uses a different overtime calculation or your extra hours are not pensionable, treat the result as a planning range and compare it with payroll.
What the result can and cannot tell you
The annualised result is useful for comparing roles, promotion and regular overtime. It is not a payslip replica. PAYE is cumulative, and tax codes, student loans, benefits, salary sacrifice, arrears and partial-year pay awards can change individual months.
Frequently asked questions
Are the 2026 firefighter salary figures current?
Yes. The role salaries and published hourly rates use NJC Circular 2/26, effective 1 July 2026.
Does the estimate include firefighter pension contributions?
It can automatically use the current England or Scotland FPS 2015 band for a broad estimate. Choose custom for another scheme or rate, or none if you have opted out.
Why might my payslip differ?
Tax code, payroll period, student loans, salary sacrifice, local allowances, pensionable-pay rules, overtime timing and arrears can all change a real payslip.
