This page records what our tools use, how calculations are performed and where a simplified model stops.
National rates
Annual, hourly, overtime and retained-duty figures are transcribed from NJC/2/26. Annual salary is not re-derived from hourly pay; we use the published rounded value in each column.
Annualised deductions
The salary calculator applies 2026/27 Income Tax bands, personal-allowance taper and employee Class 1 NI. Pension is treated as reducing taxable pay for the illustration. It excludes tax-code variations, loans, benefits and payroll-period effects.
Educational modelling
The England FPS 2015 tool adds annual CARE slices at 1/59.7 and applies user-selected assumptions. It deliberately excludes legacy and remedy calculations that require an individual record.

Update and correction process
Material rate changes are checked against a primary publisher before being entered. A second pass compares totals and representative pay points. Guide dates show the last substantive review rather than a cosmetic edit.
If a source has changed or a transcription is wrong, email policepayuk@gmail.com with the page, figure and source. We correct confirmed errors and update the visible review date.
