Control-specific operational roles
The control table mirrors development and competent points across firefighter, crew, watch, station and group manager levels. The national relationship is applied to the corresponding firefighting rate and then rounded using the circular's method.
A competent firefighter control role is £38,340 annually and £17.51 hourly, with a published overtime rate of £26.27. A competent B watch manager control role is £47,532 annually.
Operator-equivalent grades
The circular also lists non-operational fire control operator equivalents with staged annual rates, followed by leading and senior operator equivalents. Some lower points were uplifted to comply with National Minimum or Living Wage requirements.
Local grading still matters
Control structures and job titles differ. Check whether the post is within the control-specific NJC role table or a separate local grade before selecting a salary in a calculator.
